Leonard Bernstein, the world-famous conductor and composer,
knew how to incorporate American jazz music into the European
classical tradition. In this programme the Spotlight is
directed on his songs. A ‘Songfest’ performed
by the best, most spirited American and Caribbean singers.
Commenting from behind the piano, as Bernstein did himself
in his television shows during the sixties. Instrumental
interludes for trumpet and piano. |
